EE. UU. Smashed the golden dream of Brazil in beach volleyball.

The Americans Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor fulminaron today, with a resounding 2-0 (21-12 and 21-14), Brazil's dream of reaching for the fourth time a final Olympic women's beach volleyball.

The U.S. easily defeated the Brazilian duo Renata Ribeiro and Talita Rocha, and now face gold by the Chinese Tian Jia and Wang Jie, who defeated today by 2-1 (22-24, 29-27, 15-8) their compatriots Xue Chen and Zhang Xi.

"We are sad, but we have to overcome that and think about winning the bronze medal," said Ribeiro.

"For us this bronze is worth gold, because we have been defeated by current Olympic champion, who came to Beijing as favourite," said Rocha, who admitted that the U.S. "are increasingly better." Check the complete medal standings.

In fact, the American duo was two days ago of the executioner who were looking for two other Brazilian Olympic gold in Beijing, Ana Paula Conelly and Larissa Franca.

In addition, four years ago Walsh and May-Treanor also buried the dream of Brazilian gold in the Olympic Games of Athens, imposed in the final Sheldan Bede and Adriana Behay.

This is the first time that Brazil is excluded from the dispute over the gold in women's beach volleyball since the sport gained Olympic status mode, in Atlanta 1996.

At those Games, Jackeline Silva and Sandra Pires took up with gold, while Behar and Bede were silver in Sydney 2000 and Athens in 2004.
