PGA Betting – AT&T National Preview

Golf Betting Odds at BSNblogJust because British Open golf odds aren’t here yet doesn’t mean there aren’t important tournaments to bet on in the meantime. This week, it’s Tiger’s tournament on the schedule – the AT&T National. The field is set and it’s not amazingly strong, but there are still a few golfers set to challenge the host, including last year’s winner.

The favorite, as always, will be Mr. Tiger Woods. He missed his own tourney last season due to injury, of course, but placed sixth in 2007. He still has to get his driving under control, but there’s simply no way he doesn’t contend this week.

The next man to consider at your offshore sportsbook has to be Anthony Kim. He won the AT&T National last season and, while he’s been somewhat of a bust after all the hype entering 2009, he’s quietly playing much better of late, as his last two tournaments (the U.S. Open and the Travelers Championship) yielded his best finishes since the first week of the season. If he’s sticking his approaches the way he can, he’ll be in the hunt until the end.

Hunter Mahan can’t be ignored either. He’s established a new personal skill level, seemingly hanging around the top of the leaderboard more and more. His last six tournaments yield an interesting trend: 72nd, 45th, 27th, 14th, 6th, 4th. He’s improving every week, so you have to think he’s on the cusp of a victory. He’ll offer good value so you have to consider him one of the best online sports picks this weekend.

What a year it’s been for Lucas Glover. He’s more than just the U.S. Open champ too; what most bettors probably don’t realize is that he has two other top-three finishes on tour this season. He stayed hot with a very respectable 11th last week, and impressive finish given that the U.S. Open went five days the week before and should’ve tired him out. If you want to ride the hot hand, you could do worse than Glover.

In the “due” category is Jim Furyk. He hasn’t won since 2007 but has flirted with victory on and off all year, posting three straight top-10s before slipping to 33rd at the U.S. Open. He won’t be intimidated no matter whom he’s paired with – even if it’s Tiger – so he’s a solid sleeper.

Best betting management pick: Anthony Kim. Tiger is tempting but he still has some tweaking to do before the British Open. Kim is heating up and a return to his stomping grounds of 2008 should do wonders for his confidence.

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics Betting Odds

MLB Odds at BSNblogThe Detroit Tigers and the Oakland Athletics will both be trying to pick up a win on Monday when they battle at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.

Porcello's opponent in this one will be Brett Anderson. The Athletics lefthander has a 5.74 ERA to go along with a 3-7 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Tigers listed as 115-moneyline favorites versus the Athletics, while the game's total is sitting at 9.

The Tigers defeated Houston 4-3 as a -135 favorite on Sunday. The seven runs scored fell UNDER the posted over/under total (8.5).

Brandon Inge hit a two-run home run in the ninth inning for Detroit and Curtis Granderson was 3-4 with a solo homer in the win.

A few trends to consider:
Detroit is 8-2 SU in its last 10 games

UFC 100 Betting – Lesnar To Get His Revenge

UFC 100 Odds at BSNblogNow that the UFC 100 odds are up, the main

A lot people think that this UFC fight card might be the best of all time, which is definitely up for debate. Aside from seeing Brock Lesnar fight Frank Mir, and George St. Pierre versus Thiago Alves (no relation to the tennis player), and Dan Henderson squaring off with Michael Bisping, there’s actually still more attractions on the card.

A lot of people want to see how Jon Jones – one of the sport’s up-and-coming stars – fares in his first fight since crushing Stephan Bonner.

This could be the most star-studded event since we examined the Super Bowl odds back in February, so let’s examine the main fight and make a pick:

Frank Mir vs Brock Lesnar

Odds: Lesnar -250

The sportsbooks are sending a pretty clear message by making Lesnar such a clear favorite: they don’t think Frank Mir can win.

It might be hard to argue with them because they usually know what they are doing and secondly, there is a good pedigree for picking Lesnar to win.

For starters, Lesnar dominated the first fight and only lost because he made a rookie mistake. As he was on top of Mir while the two were fight on the ground, Mir , the submission expert, caught a hold of Lesnar’s foot and submitted him.

The important note here is that it was Lesnar’s second-ever MMA fight at that time and he was fairly raw at that point.

He’s grown quite a bit since that time and has worked on his ground defense significantly.

When you look at how this fight will shape up, Mir’s main edge is trying to submit Lesnar, but you have to figure that Lesnar’s radar will be up after last time.

Secondly, you have to factor that Lesnar has improved as an MMA fighter overall. He has been training with fighters, has gained fight experience and has more knowledge than he did the first time around.

Standing, it would be pretty hard not to give Lesnar the edge because of the power his punches pack. And on the mat, Lesnar is a wrestling expert, so he has an edge there too.

As long as he doesn’t get caught in another submission, this fight is his to lose.

Sports Pick: Lesnar -250

NFL Betting News at BSNblogIt was an immortal character in the history of the Chiefs, but it was not until this year he was enthroned in the Hall of Fame in which the board of Kansas City decided to remove the uniform number 58 supportive of the late Derrick Thomas.

Estefan´s the New Owners of the Miami Dolphins

NFL Betting News at BSNblog Emilio and Gloria Estefan purchased a minority share of the Miami Dolphins in what became the first people of Cuban-American to have a property in the NFL.

The news came during a press conference with Emilio and Gloria Estefan.

In a telephone interview with NFLatino.com, Emilio Estefan told us how he was given this purchase.

"Steve Ross (majority owned by the Dolphins) asked me," said Emilio Estefan. "For me, being the first Cuban-American who enters the football, which is one of the things that most Americans are in United States, I have always wanted to do things that leave history to the new Hispanic youth, my children and new Hispanics, this is the music that introduced a new sound, something new is implemented here, a new goal that is achieved for new Latinos in United States. "

The Dolphins have not reached a Super Bowl since January 20, 1985, the successful music producer who believes that is a party for him on set.

"So I grabbed me, so I came, I always have good luck."

With optimism and courage that characterize the Estefan, Emilio did not hesitate to give a prediction for next year's Miami Dolphins.

"I've always been a very positive person and I think that things in life can be achieved and has been my philosophy since I was a child. I was a poor immigrant and spent so much work without my family ... I always looked at the positive side of life, so my prediction is that at least we will reach the finals of the Super Bowl. "

Emilio Estefan for the team in South Florida not only means a collection of football.

"The Miami Dolphins mean the story of my life, I remember 1972 when they won the championship, I saw all the people playing the horn and I got to play the horn and is part of the history of what the American dream" .

Having a Latino owner in the "Dolphin" gives a new face to the franchise.

"Now we have a Latino presence, we have a voice for advocacy for events like the Latino Hispanic Heritage Week, to bring more Latinos to watch the football."

Gloria and Emilio Estefan are great friends of Dan Marino, ex querterback of the Dolphins, who see great strengths in Miami for the 2009 NFL season.

"Dan Marino told me the other day that how strong this team is just that, the team, which is very solid and has great confidence that it will be a very good team."

"The story continues to change and is a door that opens not only for Estefan, for achieving what the American dream and especially for immigrants."

Travelers Betting Odds – Mahan The Favorite After Good Showing At US Open

Golf Betting Odds at BSNblogIt was a long weekend after a rainy US Open – and some offshore sportsbook in Ireland, who lost nearly $2 million after Glover won as a 175-to-1 underdog – and on a shortened week there will be a shortened field at the Travelers.

Tiger Woods obviously won’t part take, so there should be less pressure on the other golfers. Look for some Tour veterans to take advantage.

Here’s a look at the Travelers odds and some betting picks for this week’s tournament:

Hunter Mahan: 8-to-1

Hunter Mahan started the week out nearly 15-to-1 but has dropped all the way down to 8-to-1 after some heavy public action. A lot of people making their sports wagering picks have been backing him.

He played well enough to win the US Open last week but just fell a little short and the other key stat is that he’s played really well here over the last three years. He hasn’t finished outside of a tie for second in his last three starts here.

That’s good enough to make him the pick on this course.

David Toms: 16.5-to-1

David Toms may be a forgotten name but he has been playing much better this season. He tied for second at the St. Jude Classic a couple of weeks ago and then started the US Open with a 69 in the first round.

He flamed out in second round but the reality is that he has played fairly well this season. He has six Top 10’s this year.

With a weak field, maybe he gets on the board for the first time since 2006.

Vijay Singh: 16-to-1

Vijay Singh is an interesting pick this weekend. He’s among the favorites on the betting odds for the tournament and some people might be surprised to see it.

The key note here is that Singh is a workhorse and a quick turnaround from tournament to tournament doesn’t figure to affect him as it might affect some of the other golfers.

Singh has been playing better this year and had a good final round at Bethpage, which is something he may be able to carry over into the Travelers.

He’s finished fourth and fifth here before so he figures to be buzzing around the leader board on Sunday.

La'Roi Glover Going to Retire

NFL Betting News at BSNblogAfter 13 seasons in the NFL that played for four teams, the defensive tackle La'Roi Glover announced his retirement from the slatted.

Exceeded 80 catches.

Selected in the fifth round of the 1996 Draft by the Oakland Raiders, Glover played only one year with the team of black and silver to reach New Orleans, where he had his most productive seasons in 2000 when he was leading the league in catches with 17 , a rare feat for a defensive tackle.

In 2002, he began his career with four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys not missed a single game. In all these campaigns, was selected to the Pro Bowl, which joined the nominations in 2000 and 2001 when he played for the Saints.

Finally, he played his last three campaigns (2006 to 2008) with the Saints Rams, who chose not to sign it, after a performance of 30 tackles and one-half catches.

In his 13 campaigns, played 193 games (167 as an owner), accumulating 83.5 catch loose balls and eight caused.

Glover, who meet 35 years next July 4, he managed 50 catches in his five seasons with New Orleans, totaling 35.5 between 1998 and 2000. Only two players in this period exceeded: Kevin Carrer (39.5) and Warren Sapp (36).

In 1999, established the Foundation La'Roi Glover granting scholarships to students in the area of San Diego, California, and assistance to charity for children. In 2007, he was given the Award to the Walter Payton Man of the Year of the Rams for his exemplary behavior and off the pitch.

Glover is the second veteran who retires in the uniform of the Rams after the quarterback Trent Green announced his farewell to the 38 years of age.

Tuesday MLB Betting Picks

MLB Betting Odds at BSNblogLooking ahead to upcoming UFC odds? Not to worry – we’ll have plenty of analysis soon. In the meantime, why not relax and bet on some exciting baseball action between big contenders this week? Here are a few Tuesday games to bet on at your offshore sportsbook.

Phillies vs Rays odds

Tuesday, June 23, 7:08 p.m. ET

Jamie Moyer (4-6, 6.35) vs David Price (1-1, 3.46)

MLB betting lines: Phillies +140, Rays -160

Face it, MLB betting fans: the amazing Jamie Moyer is finally starting to look his age. There’s no shame in that – he’s 46 years old – but bettors are starting to shy away from picking the Phillies on nights when he starts. Well, make sure Tuesday is not one of those nights, as the Phillies have a chance for an upset.

Moyer has struggled mightily at home but he’s respectable on the road; a 5.40 ERA away from Citizens Bank Park isn’t good but it’s sometimes enough to win since the powerful Phillies’ bats give so much run support.

Tampa starter David Price is a dynamic pitcher, good at home, but his walk rate is out of control, as he’s issued 18 free passes in 26 innings this season. If he can’t hit the plate against the Phillies, they can let him put guys on and wait for a mistake. If I’m making sports predictions for Tuesday, I’m thinking that’s exactly what happens.

MLB betting pick: Phillies +140

Cardinals vs Mets odds

Tuesday, June 23, 7:10 PM ET

Joel Pineiro (5-8, 3.77) vs Livan Hernandez (5-1, 4.18)

MLB betting lines: Cardinals -115, Mets -105

Livan Hernandez has won back lots of support among those who make baseball picks, but forgive me for not being overly impressed. The five wins are nice and he’s been solid at home for the Mets, but he still allows long balls like crazy, even when he’s successful. Albert Pujols is on an epic tear right now, so it would be shocking not to see him go yard off Hernandez, especially since he’s already done so in three times in 32 at-bats against him (with a .344 average and 1.042 OPS over that span).

Joel Pineiro is, admittedly, a Jekyll-and-Hyde starter and a trip to New York should put him in “Mr. Hyde” form; he’s 2-5 with a 5.27 road ERA this season. However, it’s hard to imagine a Mets lineup missing Jose Reyes, Carlos Delgado and now Carlos Beltran doing too much damage. Pujols alone should lead the Cards to victory.

MLB betting pick: Cardinals -115

Owens can not Find Home in Buffalo Bills

NFL Betting News at BSNblogFifteen hours after it was made known that Terrell Owens already had a house in New Buffalo area, the controversial host of the Bills opened the event and said desmitió still looking for their new home.

Dispute with your real estate agent.

In one of their personal pages on the web (Twitter.com), which was issued "to" had reached an agreement to acquire a newly built house 4,500 square feet in a residential area in Orchard Park, not far from Ralph Wilson Stadium.

However, former Dallas Cowboy accused his real estate agent, Maureen Flavin, had it not been professional in providing false information and failed to have the confidentiality agreement that established verbally.

Flavin spoke to various media to the news that Owens was already home to his first season with the Bills. Even the television station in Buffalo, WIVB-TV had access to the house and sent the scenes of the kitchen and hall, noting that there were no restrictions to reveal the exact address.

Owens signed a contract for one year and $ 6.5 million with the Bills, shortly after being cut by the Dallas Cowboys in March.

Houston Astros vs. Minnesota Twins Betting Odds

MLB Odds at BSNblogThe Houston Astros and the Minnesota Twins will both be gunning for a victory on Sunday when they meet at The Metrodome.

The Astros will pin their hopes on the pitching of lefthander Wandy Rodriguez in this game. Rodriguez has a 5-6 record and a 3.33 ERA this season.

Rodriguez's opponent in this one will be Glen Perkins. The Twins righthander has a 5.09 ERA to go along with a 2-3 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Twins listed as 125-moneyline favorites versus the Astros, while the game's total is sitting at 8½.

The Astros scored four runs in the seventh inning as they defeated the Twins 6-5 on Saturday, as +190 underdogs. The 11 runs made it OVER the posted over/under (9).

Michael Bourn led the Astros with a two-run homer, and Ivan Rodriguez collected a pair of RBIs. Brian Moehler tossed six innings for the win, and Jose Valverde collected his fourth save.

Jason Kubel smacked a two-run homer for the Twins, who were -210 favorites. Sean Henn gave up two runs in relief and was tagged with the loss.

A few trends to consider:
Houston is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Minnesota

Houston is 3-7 SU in its last 10 games when playing Minnesota

Minnesota is 13-5 SU in its last 18 games at home

Minnesota is 7-3 SU in its last 10 games when playing Houston

US Open Betting Odds – Tiger in Trouble after First Round

Golf Betting Odds at BSNblogThose playing their US Open betting odds had to wait out a postponement, but it didn’t hurt them as much as it did the golfers, and the world’s No.1 player is real danger of missing the cut in only his second major.

Tiger Woods struggled to a +4 in his first 18 holes, 12 of which came on Friday morning. A double bogey on 15 started the slide, and then Woods proceeded to bogey 16 and 18 after birdies on 10 and 14 had him in a good position. His playing partners, Angel Cabrera (+4) and Padraig Harrington (+6) didn’t fare much better, considering that the trio had combined for seven of the last eight major-championship wins.

Players like Mike Weir (-4 through seven), David Toms (-2 through eight), Anthony Kim (-2 through seven), Sean O’Hair (-2 through six) and last year’s “people’s champion”, Rocco Mediate (-2 through six) are all off to good starts. Ian Poulter has been tipped by many who make sports picks to surprise the field, and he got through with a par score in his first round. The weather could actually favor foreign players like Poulter, who is English, as they play in much worse conditions on the other side of the Atlantic. Weather like the rain storms at Bethpage Black are expected when it comes to the British Open, for example.

Fan favorite Phil Mickelson is -1 through his first eight holes, and he proved to be even more popular than Tiger during the practice rounds this week, as fans wanted to support him because of his wife Amy’s breast-cancer scare, and it was his 39th birthday on Tuesday. “Lefty” is looking to ride the wave of emotion to a golf betting win, and his second-place result at Bethpage Black in 2002 is one of four runner-up finishes for him in the US Open, so take a look for him in your offshore sportsbook.

Giants-Jets Stadium Still Unnamed

NFL Betting News at BSN SportsAlthough there have been numerous business meetings between the management of both teams with several companies interested in sponsoring the building of $ 1.600 million in New Jersey Meadowlands, John Mara, executive president of the Giants, said that no agreement had been reached and that cree might not have to when you start the 2010 season.

"I think it's more important to have a proper agreement and if that means having to wait beyond the opening of the stadium, we will," said Mara. "I do not think that would be appropriate. I hope to have something before it. "

Mara did not specify the names of companies that have shown interest, despite the economic crisis, nor the amount sought by the equipment grant rights to the property name.

The German insurance company Allianz was to close a deal last year that would have meant $ 30 million per year for Giants and Jets, however, negotiations broke down when it was revealed that the German company once had ties to the regime Nazi. Immediately, there was criticism from Jewish organizations, Holocaust survivors and supporters for the chance to see the stadium's name linked to the memory of the tragic events during World War II.

The Giants announce an agreement with the Timex watch company for 15 years to grant rights in the name of their new training camps and corporate buildings, as well as the Meadowlands sports complex.

Although not released the details of the operation, reported that the Giants could get $ 3 million per year for the convention.

NFL Odds – Broncos In For A Very Long Season

Sports Betting News at BSN SportsThe NFL odds for the Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl just keep climbing.

The Broncos finished the 2008 season about as well Mike Tyson finished his boxing career, which has led to this tailspin of events.

The Mike Shanahan and Jay Cutler-led Broncos were sitting pretty at 8-5 with a three-game lead in the NFC West in early December. Fast forward through a three-game losing streak and a missed playoff opportunity, and the party began.

Head coach and general manager Mike Shanahan’s firing was nothing short of a surprise. Most people were betting management would undoubtedly bring him back after injuries hampered the team’s success, and not coaching.

After Shanahan was removed, 32-year-old offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was made head coach and the Broncos were off and running. McDaniels immediately tried to trade for his former project, Matt Cassel, and in doing so pissed off current Pro Bowler, Jay Cutler.

No problem – the Broncos simply traded Cutler away.

After the Broncos sent the face of their franchise packing, it looked like there would be a calm after the storm. Incorrect.

Now Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall is also requesting a trade, which will soon be granted to him.

Broncos fans are completely downtrodden. They look like they are going to head into the coming season without their two best players, which is like Wimbledon betting fans watching the Grand Slam without Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal in the tournament.

Last year, all the Broncos had was Shanahan, Cutler and Marshall. Now they have absolutely nothing.

Their defense was horrendous last year and very little attention has been paid to it this offseason. Veteran safety Brian Dawkins was one of the few additions but don’t bank on a 36-year-old to turn around the 30th-ranked scoring defense. Furthermore, the Broncos cut cornerback Dre Bly and their other stalwart starter, Champ Bailey, started to wear down.

On offense, Shanahan churned out 1000-yard runner one after the other but now the Broncos won’t even be able to rely on that anymore as McDaniels is a different type of coach.

This has been one of the worst offseasons in NFL history and it’s all been orchestrated by the young McDaniels. NFL daily picks won’t be backing his team very often, especially not after their offseason included canning a potential Hall-of-Fame coach and dismissing a Pro Bowl quarterback and wideout.

Now they’ll head into the season with Kyle Orton as their top quarterback and Eddie Royal as their best wideout. On defense, their whole unit is still in flux.

While new coaches sometimes have a honeymoon period, McDaniels has fast tracked past that stage and is already on the hot seat. It will be a very long year in Denver.

Wimbledon Betting Preview

Tennis Betting Odds at BSNblogBetting on Wimbledon odds is the crème de la crème of tennis wagering for many sportsbook players, so they’ll be happy to know that (a) Wimbledon starts in just one week and (b) there’s a decent chance that Rafael Nadal will play after all. Let’s look at a few potential men’s picks for the big event.

ROGER FEDERER (+119)

Finally, Federer steals some spotlight back from the Spaniard. His French Open win completed the career Grand Slam and tied him with Pete Samprass for the most career Grand Slam titles. One win away from achieving all-time greatness, Federer should be hungrier than ever. His chances to win are the best they’ve been in a while and the sportsbook line reflects that.

ANDY MURRAY (+407)

Does Britain finally have its new hero? Murray ended a 71-year drought for Britons at the Queen’s Club on Sunday and will try to become the first home-grown winner since 1936. He wants to be the man to break Federer and Nadal up in the top two worldwide rankings and a win at Wimbledon would do that – not to mention make anyone betting on him very happy.

RAFAEL NADAL (+435)

Things could be looking up for Rafael Nadal’s chances in tennis betting again. The world No. 1 was expected to miss Wimbledon with a knee injury, one that probably caused his early ouster from the French Open. Reportedly, though, his recovery is going well and he’ll test out the knee at the Hurlingham Club exhibition this Friday. If all goes well, we’ll see Nadal in the tournament. Even if he isn’t at 100 per cent, he’ll be a sportsbook contender.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC (+1000)

Don’t count out the wily Serbian. While 2009 hasn’t been a banner year for him so far, he’s beaten Federer twice. He hasn’t beaten Nadal this season but went to war with him at the Mutua Madrilena Madrid Open, losing the deciding set in what is considered the longest best-of-three-set match in the ATP Open era, so he’s not afraid to tangle with the best, like a tough underdog in boxing betting. Murray, however, owned Djokovic with a straight-sets victory earlier this year, so keep that in mind when sports betting online if they face each other.

Torres Led Spain to a Big Win

Soccer Betting Odds at BSNblogIn response to a triplet of Fernando Torres in the first 17 minutes, Spain was a feast of goals at 5-0 on Sunday to slaughter a fragile New Zealand and confirmed that his favoritism in the Confederations Cup is fully supported.

The run of matches without losing to Spain stretched to 33, to draft two more to match the record set between 1993 and Brazil 1996.

It was a pity that only one third of the Bafokeng stadium Rotal Rustenmburgo was filled to witness the exhibition of the Red to an opponent who was overwhelmed by the dizzying effect of the overwhelming champion of Europe.

El Niño Torres scored at 6, 14 and 17 minutes, each with different invoice goal: the first with a rope that beat the goalkeeper Glen Moss, then a subtle touch pass from David Villa and finally with a header to the center of Joan Capdevilla .

Cesc Fabregas, now the owner, got the fourth with 24, while the gauge Villa became the fifth thanks to a gift of 48 behind the Kiwis a blunder when a defender cleared the ball and was served at the feet of Spanish striker.

Villa reached 29 goals with the selection and is now second in the history list.

The win left Spain as the owner of the first Group A with three points in their next match will be with Iraq, which equals no goals to host South Africa at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.

We started the tournament well with the ease of the team, we should recognize it, the technician told Spanish Vicente del Bosque. We have made a good first time. We should not believe much, the match was misleading.

The downside of the game were clear in the huge stadium with a capacity for 45,000 fans. Organizers of the confederations, test tournament for the World Cup that South Africa will host in a year, had insisted that only the most expensive ($ 87) sold for lack of grief.

New Zealand came with a certain air of danger, then in the previous week had lost a 4-3 friendly against Italy. But offered nothing to contain the Spanish power. Its alleged superiority in the physical game and there was no air appeared.

I do not think anyone was surprised by what we saw in the stadium, said the technician Kiwi Riki Herbert. We knew that we were not easy, but still has a couple of games.

Everything came to ask him mouth-to Spain. Beyond the goals from Torres, Sergio Torres was unstoppable in the right banda, Capdevila did likewise for the left and Cesc went high note with his work as a generator of football in the midfield.

But the real star of the night was the implacable Torres. As a statistic, the triplet of player Liverpool was the fastest in the history reflected in the selection of more than 20 minutes it took for Gaspar Rubio on March 17, 1929.

After the goal by Villa, Spain dropped the curtain and cover the remainder of the match, playing almost as a rival to inertia that always seemed dazed look on the court.

U.S. Open Betting Odds Preview

US Open Betting Odds at BSNblogAfter the NBA Finals odds come to a close, sports betting fans will want something new and exciting to focus on when making their sportsbook picks. How about the U.S. Open next week at Bethpage Black? Most books have taken down their official odds until the St. Jude Classic ends, but we can still discuss some potential top picks based on the most recent odds. Let’s have a look.

TIGER WOODS

U.S. Open odds: 7 to 4

No matter how well or poorly Tiger is playing at any given point, he’ll be in the discussion for major championship contenders as long as he can still hold a club. Long hitters do well at Bethpage and we know what Tiger can do off the tee; it’s just a matter of whether or not he can keep the ball in the fairway. He did it at the Memorial last week, but Muirfield Village’s fairways are easy to hit compared to Bethpage’s. Still, Tiger has two wins this season, so he’ll play well enough to contend.

PHIL MICKELSON

U.S. Open odds: 8 to 1

Lefty is a wildcard this week, but be careful not to bet with your heart over your head. It would be nice to see him win since he’s dealt with his wife’s illness, but we don’t know if his game is where it needs to be for the U.S. Open. Take a wait-and-see approach and bet based on how he finishes at the St. Jude.

PAUL CASEY

U.S. Open odds: 20 to 1

Watch out for this Englishman. Did you know that he’s ranked third in the world golf rankings? He’s playing well this season, with three top-fives, he’s a bomber off the tee at over 295 yards on average, and his current golf odds would give you +2000 value. Not bad.

JIM FURYK

U.S. Open odds: 25 to 1

If I have a “gut feeling” pick, Furyk is it. Those who bet on sports know he almost always performs at the U.S. Open – he has one win, two second-places and two fifth-places – and he’s playing well of late, with three straight top-10s.

ANGEL CABERA

U.S. Open odds: 50 to 1

You may want to pounce on Cabrera now if your sportsbook has lines open. A former U.S. Open winner and the current reigning Masters champ at +5000 value? Seems like a steal, especially since he has the length needed to compete at Bethpage. Don’t’ forget about him.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers Betting Odds

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers Betting OddsThe Blue Jays will trot Ricky Romero out to the mound in this one. Lefthander Romero has a 3-2 record and a 4.10 ERA this season.

The Toronto Blue Jays will be trying to extend a winning streak on Thursday when they take on the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark.

Romero's opponent in this one will be Kevin Millwood. The Rangers righthander has a 2.96 ERA to go along with a 5-4 record this season.

Oddsmakers currently have the Rangers listed as 155-moneyline favorites versus the Blue Jays, while the game's total is sitting at 10.

Brian Tallet tossed seven scoreless innings to get the win, as the Blue Jays slammed the Rangers 9-0 on Tuesday night.

Toronto cashed as +110 road underdogs as the game played UNDER the 10.5-run total listed by oddsmakers.

Adam Lind was 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs batted in for the Blue Jays, while Marco Scutaro went 2-for-5 with two RBIs for Toronto.

Doug Mathis gave up four earned runs over five innings to take the loss for Texas, which managed only two hits in the loss.

A few trends to consider:
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Toronto's last 5 games

Toronto is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games

Toronto is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games when playing Texas

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Toronto's last 5 games on the road

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Texas's last 5 games

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Texas's last 6 games at home

The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Texas's last 7 games when playing at home against Toronto

Texas is 12-5 SU in its last 17 games at home

UFC 99 Preview and Picks

UFC Betting Odds at BSNblogWith the NBA Finals odds to worry about, not to mention Game 7 Stanley Cup betting, it’s understandable if you’re a bit distracted by the huge sports betting events this week. However, if you like exciting MMA action, you shouldn’t forget about UFC 99 this weekend. It may not have a title fight but it features a handful of exciting matchups.

The event starts at 3:00 p.m. ET Saturday, June 13. With so many good fights to choose from, let’s profile the top five fights to watch in rapid-fire format.

Rich Franklin (26-4) vs Wanderlei Silva (32-9-1) – Catchweight bout (195 lbs)

UFC 99 betting lines: Franklin -140, Silva +110

THE STORYLINE: Two exciting strikers coming off tough losses both seek revenge in what should be a bloody war featuring lots of standup.

THE PICK: Franklin. He has less mileage on his body and is a bit better defensively. He’ll catch Silva, who seems to have lost a step.

Cheick Kongo (24-4-1) vs Cain Velasquez (5-0) – Heavyweight bout

UFC 99 betting lines: Kongo +160, Velasquez -200

THE STORYLINE: Velasquez is the next big thing in the heavyweight division and he has a chance to prove he’s ready to contend against the big, strong kickboxer Kongo.

THE PICK: Kongo. Velasquez will be a force in UFC betting soon enough, but he’s not ready to face a seasoned vet like Kongo after just five pro fights.

Marcus Davis (21-5) vs Dan Hardy (21-6) – Welterweight bout

UFC 99 betting lines: Davis -220, Hardy +180

THE STORYLINE: Two rough, tough boxers who don’t like each other finally get to slug it out in the octagon.

THE PICK: Davis. He’s a more experienced fighter, having fought some of the best welterweights out there, and his ground game is better. He’ll knock Hardy out in what may be the fight of the night.

Mike Swick (13-2) vs Ben Saunders (7-0-2) – Welterweight bout

UFC 99 betting lines: Swick -225, Saunders +185

THE STORYLINE: Two solid but relatively obscure fighters meet, with the winner possibly climbing high on the welterweight ladder.

THE PICK: Saunders. Those who bet on sports don’t know much about him yet, but he could be a future star in UFC betting. He has a nice combination of ground skills and striking (watch out for those knees!). Swick has power but he’ll be in trouble if Saunders can get close to him.

Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic (24-6-1) vs Mostapha Al Turk (6-4) – Heavyweight bout

UFC 99 betting lines: Cro Cop -400, Al Turk +300

THE STORYLINE: The popular, powerful Cro Cop hopes to make a comeback at age 34 and Dana White has been kind to him, offering up punching bag Mostapha Al Turk.

THE PICK: Cro Cop. Al Turk is a stepping stone at best and will probably catch one of Cro Cop’s monster kicks in the head – possibly in round one.

Good luck with UFC 99 if you wager online this weekend.

Boxing Betting – Cotto Faces Stiff Test Against Joshua Clottey

Boxing Betting Odds at BSNblogWith the NBA Championship odds and Silva Franklin odds for UFC 99 stealing some of the limelight, the Miguel Cotto-Joshua Clottey fight might not get much attention this weekend. Even so, it should be a good bout between Cotto, who was a rising star and will try to get back on track, and the upstart Clottey. In boxing’s most crowded and popular division, let’s find out if we have another contender in the mix.

Cotto Clottey Odds: Cotto -360

Saturday, June 13th

Madison Square Gardens, NY

It will be an interesting bout between Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey this weekend. On one hand, we’ll have the relatively unknown Joshua Clottey, who is well-deserved of a fight against a guy like Cotto, but hasn’t exactly shown that he can dominate the sport in the tough division.

Cotto, on the other hand, was a rising star in the division and was even rumored to be close to a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr, but a surprising loss to Antonio Margarito derailed those plans.

But there is some speculation as to how credible Margarito’s win, or in this case, Cotto’s loss was. Margarito was busted using plaster under his gloves in his next fight against Shane Moseley, which makes a lot of handicappers wonder if Margarito did the same to Cotto.

Regardless, the main issue here will be if Cotto can get over his first knockout and his first loss. Often times a fighter is never the same after being knocked out.

Cotto did have a chance to clear his head against Michael Jennings, which he did. Cotto took home the WBO belt for his efforts and now should be even crisper against Clottey.

For Cotto, that fight was a tune-up but Clottey might be a bit rusty. Clottey hasn’t fought in 10 months, which could work against him.

At the end of the day, Cotto is the more skilled fighter and the boxer with the brighter future. There are a number of potential fights lined up for him including Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao or Juan Manuel Marquez if Cotto can put Clottey to bed rather easily.

But if Cotto is looking ahead, he’ll find himself in a scrap. Clottey isn’t a stiff.

Even so, look for Cotto to be focused and ready for the fight this Saturday.

Cotto Clottey betting pick: Cotto -360

NBA Finals Betting Odds & Stats - Magic vs. Lakers

NBA Finals Betting OddsThe Orlando Magic and the Los Angeles Lakers will both be trying to pick up a win on Sunday when they battle at STAPLES Center in the second game of the NBA Finals.

Oddsmakers currently have the Lakers listed as 6½-point favorites versus the Magic, while the game's total is sitting at 202.

Kobe Bryant poured in a game-high 40 points as the Lakers ran over the Magic 100-75 in Game 1 of the best-of-seven series on Thursday.

The Lakers easily covered the 6-point spread, but the 175 points fell UNDER the night's posted total of 205.5.

Bryant also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out eight assists in that win.

Dwight Howard had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Magic in the loss.

A few trends to consider:
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Orlando's last 6 games when playing on the road against LA Lakers

Orlando is 7-2 ATS in its last 9 games

The total has gone OVER in 5 of Orlando's last 7 games

Orlando is 6-3 SU in its last 9 games

Weekend Preview – Lakers, Red Wings Aim To Take Control At Home

NBA & NHL Finals Betting ActionWith the Belmont odds posted and the French Open finals upon us, there will be a lot of sporting events for the weekend. Here’s a preview of the two major sports that are currently in the Finals stages:

Stanley Cup Betting: Penguins Have Another Shot To Steal Home-Ice.

Earlier in the postseason, the NHL playoffs were pushed off the TV schedule in favor of the Kentucky Derby. While it will have to share the attention with the Belmont Stakes betting crowd this Saturday, Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals will be played later on in the evening.

The story is still the same for the Penguins as they need to steal at least one game on the road in Detroit. The Red Wings have the early momentum in the series as they jumped out to an early 2-0 series lead but now the series is tied and the Red Wings are the ones feeling the pressure.

The good news for Pittsburgh is that in their two losses, the Red Wings scored a lot of fluky goals. Now they head back to Detroit as confident as they’ve been.

The Red Wings better find a way to get their big guns going. Pavel Datsyuk has yet to play in this series, Henrik Zetterberg is playing heavy minutes but mostly on the defensive end and Marian Hossa has just two assists in the series.

The Red Wings power play has also disappeared. They are just 1-for-10 in the series and if it doesn’t wake up soon, the Red Wings may find themselves in a 3-2 series hole.

Lakers Magic Betting: Lakers See Through Nervous Magic Tricks

The Los Angeles Lakers had a very easy time dismantling the Orlando Magic in Game 1 and the story might not change a whole lot for Game 2.

While it’s true that the Magic shot an uncharacteristically low percentage from the field (29%), there was good reason for it. The Magic did not move the ball around on offense, they were playing one-on-one and they lost all of their confidence they built up from the previous round.

Most of that can be attributed to nerves but another concern has to be how they performed on the defensive end themselves.

The Lakers played with more intensity and found plenty of holes in the Magic’s weak defense.

Kobe Bryant finished with 40 points but the scary stat from his line would be the eight assists. If Bryant is going to put up LeBron James numbers, this will not be a very long series.

Look for a closer contest in Game 2 but the result should be the same.

World Cup Qualifier odds – Big Weekend for Argentina, England, Portugal

World Cup Qualifier OddsOn the same day as the Belmont odds and some French Open finals betting, soccer brings us some exciting action with a huge day of World Cup Qualifying games. Let’s break down a few of the more noteworthy matchups for this Saturday.

Kazakhstan vs England – Saturday, June 6 @ 11:00 a.m. ET

Soccer betting lines: Kazakhstan +1300, England -700, Draw +500

Could England finally be on the verge of ending their stretch of disappointments over the last decade or so? The team that lost in the 2006 World-Cup qualifier sagged even more when it failed to reach Euro 2008, but the road to the World Cup doesn’t look so bad right now. The English destroyed Kazakhstan in October of 2008, pummeling them in the second-half especially en route to a 5-1 win. When England upped the pressure, particularly with Wayne Rooney, Kazakhstan couldn’t keep up. Even with Rio Ferdinand on the mend, the English will be fine.

Best betting online pick: England -700

Albania vs Portugal – Saturday, June 6 @ 2:45 p.m. ET

Soccer betting lines: Albania +625, Portugal -270, Draw +300

OK, Portugal, let’s go. What are you waiting for? Portugal’s fans have to be just a tiny bit antsy after 0-0 ties against Sweden and Albania, who they now face in a rematch. Playing on the road before what should be a rowdy Albanian crowd, are the Portugese in trouble? Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the best footballer in the world, needs to find the net – something he hasn’t done yet in this round of qualifying. With Nani on the team as well, Portugal’s offense is too potent not to wake up. They’ll need to score early to take the crowd out of the game but they should prevail over Albania,

Best betting online pick: Portugal -270

Argentina vs Colombia – Saturday, June 6 @ 5:00 p.m. ET

Soccer betting lines: Argentina -345, Colombia +800, Draw +350

It’s not do-or-die for Argentina just yet, but they certainly could use a win after Bolivia destroyed them 6-1 in their last match. Their opponent just happens to be the team chasing them for World Cup berth: Colombia. The key to Saturday’s match will be discipline; in most of Argentina’s recent losses, the problems were rooted in red cards. Three of Bolivia’s six goals came after Angel Di Maria was tossed. A clean game will go a long way, as will the presence of Lionel Messi. Constantly mentioned in the “best in the world” debate, he’s had a great year, winning the Champions League and Spanish League with Barcelona. He’ll lead a group that should be hungry to get back in the win column. This match may be close, but Argentina should come out on top. Pick the team with something to prove if you wager on sports this Saturday.

Best betting online pick: Argentina -345

Kaká to a Passage from Real Madrid, but Chelsea Came in the Negotiation

Kaka to Real MadridMilan and Real Madrid were about to sign on Tuesday an agreement for the transfer of Kaka, according to match the Italian and Spanish press.

However, the Gazzetta dello Sport reported that at the eleventh hour came into the Chelsea scene, so the transfer would have been so far in the air.

When the negotiation was already terminated unexpectedly came on the scene Carlo Ancelotti, Kaka last technician in Milan, who have expressed interest in Chelsea, reviewed the paper.

The Brazilian player, who is in Milan since 2003, was one step away from Real Madrid and willing to sign a contract for nine million euros net per season (12.8 million dollars) for five years, according to the same source.

Adriano Galliani, vice-president of Milan, is in Madrid with his father and representative of Kaká, Bosco Leite, and both met with the new Madrid president, Florentino Perez, to discuss the transfer of Brazilian driving, as reported by Spanish newspaper Marca and As and Ser radio

According to Spanish newspapers, Madrid paid 65 million euros (93 million dollars) for the transfer.

Galliani, when consulted by telephone by the sports newspaper of Milan, first denied that he was in Madrid, and later acknowledged that he had gone because I was invited to dinner by my friend in Madrid Florentino (Perez) on his election as president of the Real.

Madrid's sports director Jorge Valdano said on Tuesday during the presentation of the new coach Manuel Pellegrini merengue team that negotiates a significant signing, but refused to give details.

Milan owner, Silvio Berlusconi, acknowledged that I do not know if we can offer to Kaka because so much money.

Chased by Italian journalists, even on the plane that was worn back to Brazil, Kaká is to be reiterated that in Milan.

However, the club does not give any assurance that it can resist the siren songs of the Real Madrid and Pérez, bent on reviving the laurels of the age of the galactic.

I say last, last, I do not want to go from Milan, but please, at this point I prefer to be quiet because I do not want to be misinterpreted, "said the Brazilian star, according to an interview published Tuesday by the Gazzetta dello Sport to him on an airplane.

To the millions of tifosi Rossoneri I say that my decision and I have taken, I said I want to stay quiet let me now, please, said when he traveled with his son and his wife.

The newspaper noted that Italian Kaka insists on me I want to stay, as if not sure of the decision of Milan before that the millionaire would have made the offer Madrid.

Galliani, who had claimed in the past that the Brazilian player will not move, now merely to say that try to resist the offensive of Madrid.

Paolo Maldini, Milan legend who played his last game last weekend, was not quite sure about the future of Kaka: I think we will stay at Milan, but it's hard to say because their future has been even more airtight that Ancelotti.

It is not easy to know who will, but if you go, the Milan should hire another champion because he won only the champions, said Maldini.

NBA Finals Preview

NBA Finals Betting Odds at BSNblogYes, I know. Anyone awaiting the NBA Finals odds wanted the epic Kobe/LeBron show down. Well, it’s time to get over it. The Cavs aren’t in the big dance, but Orlando’s Dwight Howard is one of the game’s premier players in his own right, so the Lakers Magic odds are nothing to sneeze at. Let’s break down the series.

ORLANDO MAGIC VS LOS ANGELES LAKERS

Game 1 is Thursday, June 4 at 9:05 p.m. ET

Magic NBA Championship odds: +230

Lakers NBA Championship odds: -280

On paper, the Magic may actually tempt many fans of hoops betting, for many reasons. First off, the Magic swept the season series with the Lakers 2-0. Second, even though the Lakers have home-court advantage, the Magic downed the Celtics and Cavs despite opening those series on the road. Third, the best big man in basketball plays for Orlando and his name is Dwight Howard. Fourth, the Magic have shot the lights out all playoffs long.

Despite those four factors, the Lakers will still win the NBA Championship odds, and here’s why:

1. The regular season is not the NBA playoffs. Yes, the Magic were impressive in the regular season against the Lakers, even winning a game at Staples Center, but the Lakers are the more experienced team, having been to the Finals last year, and they have champions on the roster in Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher.

2. Home court will still matter in the end. The Magic defied the odds in Game 7 on the road against the Celtics, but lightning doesn’t strike twice; no team has ever won two Game 7s on the road in one playoff year, so the NBA odds of the Magic accomplishing that feat aren’t good. The extra Game at Staples Center is an advantage for the Lakers, bar none.

3. Even with Howard, the Magic aren’t the better team in the paint. There’s the amazing Howard and…who else? The Magic have no inside scoring depth, whereas the Lakers have Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol. Howard will dominate some games but he also gets in foul trouble; he had 32 infractions in six games against the Cavaliers. Kobe more than counters Dwight Howard’s star power and he has a better supporting cast than the Magic – not to mention the Cavaliers – do.

4. Outside shooting is way less reliable than inside scoring. The one caveat with outside shooting is that it can go cold. The Magic’s Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis and Rafer Alston have knocked down one trey after another in these playoffs, but I’d bet at the sportsbook that they go cold for a game or two in the NBA finals odds, as it’s tough to shoot better than 50 per cent from beyond the arc every game. If the shots don’t fall, the Lakers’ superior inside game will help them outscore Orlando.

Make no mistake – the Lakers Magic odds won’t be a walk for either team, but the Lakers’ depth and experience will propel them past Superman and company.

Internet sportsbook pick: Lakers -280
