College Football Betting: Kentucky vs. W. Kentucky Mobile Odds

NCAA Football PicksKentucky over W. Kentucky by 13

Despite a bowl effort in his fi rst season with the Wildcats last year, Joker Phillip’s squad petered out down the stretch, going 2-4 SU and 1-4 ATS in its final six games.

Will the Bluegrass Cats open like last year’s 3-0 SU and ATS debut under Phillips or will they continue to underperform? We won’t lay substantial points to fi nd out, especially against a ‘Toppers team that made huge strides last season, winning their fi rst two conference games in school history.

WKU also snapped a 20-game ITS (In The Stats) losing skein when it outgained fi ve foes overall. Not onlydo the Sun-Belters return 17 starters overall (10 on defense), RB Bobby Rainey is back after rushing for 1,649 yards and 15 TD’s.

By comparison, UK’s loss of big-time playmaker WR Randall Cobb to the NFL represents just the tip of a troubling offensive iceberg: the Wildcats must replace 80% of their total rushing attack, 92% of their passing yardage and two receivers that combined for 1,942 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Kentucky is -19½ point favorites at Luxbet Mobile and the total is 51½.

Granted,Kentucky may have won and covered all three games as a big favorite last year – including a 35-point pounding of the Hilltoppers – but they’re about to run headlong into a revenge-minded bunch that boasts a 5-1 ATS mark of late as dogs of more than 17 points.

Yes, the game takes place at LP Field in Nashville (home of the Tennessee Titans) instead of WKU’s home turf in Bowling Green.

NFC Preseason Week 4 Game Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Washington Redskins

NFL PicksOnline Betting Overview

Most teams have made their important regular season decisions by week four of the preseason. Teams know who their starting quarterback will be, the starting running back and who will be playing on the offensive line. But the Redskins are not quite so sure just yet. Head coach Mike Shanahan, who has drastically altered his coaching style since arriving in Washington to something more chaotic than fans are used to, still has not settled on a starting quarterback. In a game where coaches should be looking to make final decisions on second and third-string players for special teams and the depth chart, the Redskins are still trying to figure out their starting line up. The offensive and defensive lines are still in a state of transition as well. Shanahan has some decent players to choose from, but he needs to make up his mind soon.

The Buccaneers have been ready for the regular season for a while now. The NFL betting lines have the Bucs contending for a playoff spot this season based on the team’s strong play last year. But this is still a young Tampa Bay team with a lot to learn about winning big games. The Bucs have been very reserved in this preseason. There has been a lot of generic offensive schemes and the constant cycling in and out of second and third-string players. Tampa is methodically getting ready for a season in which it hopes to dominate. This game will be a preview of the special teams and depth chart players for the Bucs that fans may still find very interesting.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

NFL fans were more than a little entertained when Tampa head coach Raheem Morris announced that his team was one of the best in the NFC. In a conference dominated by the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons, Morris put his young squad out there with the best of them. Morris was jumping the gun a little, but that did not stop him from making the same statement in an interview during this preseason. Confidence from the head coach is one thing, but the Bucs need to start putting together the play on the field to back up those strong words. Quarterback Josh Freeman has been very reserved in this preseason along with the rest of the Tampa offense. This game will solidify the second and third-string players and give Freeman a rest. But it will be interesting to see what the real Tampa offense looks like on opening day.

Washington Redskins

Quarterbacks John Beck and Rex Grossman have both put on stellar preseason performances. But both quarterbacks have been NFL picks to be a starter in the past based on preseason performances, and both failed in the regular season. Mike Shanahan still has chaos reigning in Washington, and the fans are curious to see what kinds of final decisions Shanahan makes for the Redskins in this last preseason game.

The Bottom Line

The bass fishing around Tampa Bay is some of the best in the country, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have their sights set on the NFL playoffs. This game will probably feature a lot of Washington starters in the first half, which is why the Redskins should be able to win this final preseason game.

A Roster Reaction

By Jared Launius

You've likely already seen it, but here's the 24 men called into Jurgen Klinsmann's second U.S. National Team camp:

GOALKEEPERS (2): Bill Hamid (D.C.United), Tim Howard (Everton)

DEFENDERS (9): Carlos Bocanegra (Rangers), Edgar Castillo (Club America), Timmy Chandler (FC Nürnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Clarence Goodson (Brondby), Zach Loyd (FC Dallas), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Heath Pearce (Chivas USA), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls)

MIDFIELDERS (9): Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht), Jeff Larentowicz (Colorado Rapids), Robbie Rogers (Columbus Crew), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Jose Torres (Pachuca)

FORWARDS (4): Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), Jozy Altidore (AZ Alkmaar), Teal Bunbury (Sporting Kansas City), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy)

And here's my token analysis.

I should probably start by calming any sentiment Michael Bradley's exclusion is some sort of coup or indication Klinsmann agrees with some of you that his 60 caps are rooted in nepotism and not merit. This camp convenes at the exact time Bradley hopes to be settling in at a new club (which, Greg Seltzer says, currently looks to be Roma) and Klinsmann himself acknowledged as much when the roster was announced. I remember reading in several places that Klinsmann favors Bradley, and I have little doubt he is viewed as a crucial cog going forward. If you truly think Klinsmann favors Jeff Larentowicz over Bradley, lie off Big Soccer for a few days.

I would echo similar sentiments on Jermaine Jones and Rico Clark, though, at this point, I'm just not sure how much anyone cares about Jermaine Jones and Rico Clark. So I'll move on.

Things get a little more murky when looking at the wing backs brought into camp. Eric Lichaj had presumably established himself as Bob Bradley's first-choice left back, but Klinsmann has yet to call the Villa man in. I think Zach Loyd is a very nice player, but I certainly don't rate him higher than Lichaj. Perhaps Lichaj was also given a chance to secure a loan. Or maybe Klinsmann is serious about not bringing in players not receiving club minutes – that would explain Bill Hamid's inclusion over Brad Guzan. At any rate, good for Loyd – a hard worker and by all accounts a great guy – for getting another shot to impress the new manager.

I also find it interesting Tim Ream was called in despite a poor run of play with Red Bull of late. Along with Rafa Marquez, Red Bull have – on paper – perhaps the best centerback pairing in MLS. But with Red Bull reeling – and the defense being the main culprit – I'm semi-surprised Omar Gonzalez, Chad Marshall or Michael Parkhurst didn't get a runout. Tells you, I guess, how serious Klinsmann is about building from the back – something I wholly support.

No other big surprises in back for me. It wouldn't have been fair to make any judgements on either Edgar Castillo or Michael Orozco Fiscal after one match, so it's good to see Klinsmann continuing to live up to his billing as a guy that wants to make his players feel comfortable and not fear getting jerked after one off performance. I wasn't particularly impressed by either guy against Mexico, but one game is never enough to banish nor lionize.

Goal and nice performance aside, I'm not sure I fully comprehend Robbie Rogers' second-straight call-up. Mix Diskerud has been as consistent an as they come at the club level the last two years, still Klinsmann is yet to call the attacking middie in. Perhaps more worrying is the fact Diserud's exclusion comes on the heels of rumors Norway is making an attempt to reign the Stabaek man back into it's national team for good. I'll agree with US Soccer Daily that I'm not particularly concerned Diskerud will change national loyalties again, but it would be nice to see him called in – for nothing else – to extend a friendly hand to Diskerud (and a not-so-friendly stiffarm to Norway).

Speaking of stiffarms, do we chalk Ale Bedoya's second-straight exclusion as a product of his trying to get settled into the side at Rangers? I hate to bang this drum again, but remember when Robbie Rogers was called into the Gold Cup roster over Bedoya? Remember how that turned out? This is obviously of much less importance than Gold Cup, but it's still a bit concerning to me.

The other point of discussion in midfield, I think, is A) the inclusion of the latest German-turned-American, Fabian Johnson and B) his being listed as a midfielder. Now, I'll freely admit I've seen nothing but the same grainy highlights of Johnson you all have seen, but I thought what made him most desirable is his ability to play left back. I'm not snobbish enough to turn away a guy playing well in midfield for a Bundesliga team, but the fact he plays there – and not on the left defensive flank – certainly takes some of my Hofbrau buzz away. Regardless, it's good to see Klinsmann call Johnson in just a week after the latter's announcement he'd entertain the U.S. if it called.

I don't think Jeff Larentowicz was called in for much beside roster depth and for Klinsmann to get a bit closer look at him. Don't expect to see the Rapids man travel to Belgium – particularly with everything Colorado is chasing right now.

The most interesting thing about the forward corps, I think, is the youth. Leaving out Donovan – because he's not an out-and-out forward – the forwards called in are 18, 21 and 21. Juan Agudelo, Teal Bunbury and Jozy Altidore figure to each bring speed, energy and the ability to run at defenders to each friendly. That's not to say, though, I fully support the group.

I don't know what Herculez Gomez has to do to get called into a friendly, and I'm not exactly sure what Teal Bunbury has done to warrant a call-in over at least a dozen other names I could pull up. I like Teal. I worked for Sporting KC this summer and thus A) spent some time around him and found him to be a very likable, gregarious guy and B) saw every minute of every game he played in from mid-May to mid-August.

What I saw on the field each week was a player who struggles with a lot of the same little things that have plagued Jozy Altidore. Like Altidore, Bunbury is a big body with speed, power and a very strong right foot. But, also like Altidore, Bunbury struggles with a lot of the craft that goes into being a center forward. Despite the body to do so, he struggles (and sometimes seems disinterested) in holding the ball up. His movement off the ball doesn't do enough to help keep possession, get himself in good spots to score goals or free up space for teammates to run off him. He tries too often to do everything by himself, and that often results in loss of possession and the squandering of a decent scoring chance.

Case in point on Bunbury: you probably saw Seattle's thrilling two-goal comeback on Sporting KC a few weeks back. What you probably didn't see was, right before Seattle's first goal, Bunbury had given possession away after trying to take on three Seattle defenders by himself – also ignoring a wide-open Chance Myers streaking unmarked to his right. Bunbury instead took an ill-advised 30-yard shot that never looked to trouble Kasey Kellar. Seattle then streaked right up field and scored it's first goal. That was three bad decisions by Bunbury on one play: trying to take on a defense without numbers, failing to spot a wide open teammate trying to support him and then taking a poorly-chosen shot.

Now, this is all understandable. A player with Bunbury's natural gifts didn't likely have to learn to do those things before arriving in the professional ranks because he could do so much by himself. He still has a lot of learning to do – and I have little doubt he'll get there. I saw a lot of improvement in those departments throughout the season. But the fact remains Bunbury isn't even the first-choice American striker on his club right now – that title goes to CJ Sapong. It's a bit of a curious choice to me, but, as I've said, the talent is certainly there.

Here, by the way, I'll drop the requisite note that Jozy Altidore might finally be turning the corner, and I, for the first time in a long time, really look forward to see how he plays with the national team. The goals are encouraging, yes, as he now has (I believe) more goals in four games with AZ Alkmaar as he had in three years with his four previous clubs combined. But what was most encouraging for me while watching AZ's Europa match yesterday was Altidore's seeming willingness to do all those little things I discussed in regards to Bunbury. Altidore held the ball up, did well off the ball and pressured high on defense all day.

This is too small a sample to say Jozy is finally on his way to becoming the player we've always known he can be, but its certainly encouraging. I'm excited to see if he brings that apparently humbled game to his first camp under Klinsmann.

NFL Betting: Rams Look To Bull Through Chiefs at Arrowhead Friday

NFL OddsThe preseason will continue this weekend with the most crucial game on the exhibition schedule, as starters look to play at least three quarters of action with the regular season just two weeks away. There will be a little added sports betting incentive this Friday at Arrowhead Stadium, as the St. Louis Rams clash with the Kansas City Chiefs in the Missouri Bowl.

St. Louis Rams @ Kansas City Chiefs

Friday August 26, 2011 – 8:00 PM ET

Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri

NFL Betting Lines
: St. Louis Rams – 2

These in-state rivals rarely see eachother in games that matter, but that could change in the near future as both are projected to be trending upward. The Rams fell just short of a division title a year ago with a loss to the Seattle Seahawks on the final day f the regular season, while Kansas City made no excuse in taking the AFC West.

NFL Betting Preview: St. Louis Rams

The Rams have shown significant progress over the past couple of years, and with a perfect start through the first two games of the preseason they aren’t looking to slow down anytime soon. The offense is finally coming together with a healthy Sam Bradford looking to make the most of the lack of weapons around him, although he does have running back Stephen Jackson rumbling on the ground. Meanwhile, with the addition of rookie first round pick defensive end Robert Quinn, St. Louis may have one of the most underrated defensive lines in the NFC. The Rams will need that line to generate pressure in order to avoid having their secondary exposed, and will face a good test this week against Matt Cassell and the Chiefs.

NFL Betting Preview: Kansas City Chiefs

With Dwayne Bowe continuing to emerge as one of the league’s better playmakers and Jamaal Charles making the chains move on the ground, Cassell has some quality weapons around him to make his job a lot easier. The biggest question mark for Kansas City heading into this season is whether or not the defense can make things work enough to keep them on top of the division, and if the preseason is any indication that may be a negative. The Chiefs have allowed an average of 28 points through two betonline preseason games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Baltimore Ravens, and will need to show more intensity against the Rams.

NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

The Chiefs have to be very careful not to become too complacent after winning the AFC West a year ago, especially with both the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders improved. Kansas City will get another good test against the Rams this week in an in-state battle, and it will be crucial for the team to respond with a much better effort with just two weeks to go before their sports betting bonus regular season opener against the Buffalo Bills.

A head of the expected UEFA announcement, there was confusion over who would take Fenerbahce's spot in the contest.

The left second legs of the play-offs were because of take place tonight, and there was speculation that one of the beaten teams from this round would be reinstated.

If UEFA were to go by coefficients, Arsenal would be sure a place in the group stage, in spite of of the outcome of their tie against Udinese.

NFL Betting Preseason Week 2: Upcoming Matches Preview and Free Picks

NFL PredictionsWith week one of the preseason now in the books, the chains will be relieved somewhat as the starters get a little more playing time to show what they can do in the second week of the 2011 NFL betting lines preseason. The focus for this week will be on the AFC with a couple of key matchups to look forward to, beginning with a couple of playoff teams from a year ago clashing on Friday night.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Baltimore Ravens

Friday, 7:30 PM ET

The Ravens have managed to keep the Super Bowl window open for years, and with Joe Flacco finally reaching a Pro Bowl level, this could finally be the year that everything comes together in Baltimore. The Ravens’ defense had no answer for Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles’ offense in week one, but should have a much easier time against a Chiefs’ team that was shutout 25-0 at home, especially if Matt Cassell doesn’t see much time. Baltimore was the team that knocked Kansas City out of the playoffs a year ago, but this game will be more about building for the sports betting bonus season than getting revenge.

NFL Betting Pick: Baltimore Ravens

Buffalo Bills @ Denver Broncos

Saturday, 8:30 PM ET

The Bills have the best pass-rush in the NFL after week one of the preseason, and they will look to let their motors loose once again with veteran Shawne Merriman leading the way against Denver. Buffalo has a ton of question marks on both sides of the ball, but the one spot that is locked in is at quarterback, where Ryan Fitzpatrick is the unquestioned starter. The Broncos are now in a stage where it appears as though Kyle Orton is also a lock to start at quarterback, but that doesn’t mean that Tim Tebow won’t make things interesting over the next couple of games. Tebow will have every opportunity to prove his merit with three preseason games remaining, and he could make the betonline difference in front of the home crowd at Mile High Stadium in week two.

NFL Betting Pick: Denver Broncos

Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Jets

The Jets were somewhat humbled in week one of the preseason as the Houston Texans beat them up on both sides of the ball, and a return trip home will mean getting back to the basics. With fullback John Connor penciled in as a starter, New York will play to the run more than ever on offense this season, allowing Mark Sanchez to go over the top on play-action passes. The Bengals were blown away 34-3 by a Detroit Lions’ team that isn’t considered to even be in the same class as New York, and with head coach Rex Ryan’s defense looking to dial up some blitzes to make life difficult for Cincinnati rookie Andy Dalton, things could get ugly in a hurry as the favorites look to make a sports betting statement.

Silverstone expects to the future

Silverstone expects to the future

Silverstone has submitted plans to additional secure their futurity that has been described as the most significant in the circuit's 60-year history.

Aylesbury Vale District Council and South Northants District Council last week received a comprehensive outline planning application that will transform the Northamptonshire estate if given the green light.

Silverstone has already experiment a track revamp, and this year the fresh £27million pit-and-paddock complex was unveiled.

Even so, in a bid to get one of the leading venues in the UK, the plan now is for a business park, Technology Park, education campus, three hotels, ancillary retail and spectator facilities that include a Welcome Centre and Museum of Motor Sport, also as a kart track and outdoor stage.

Silverstone Holdings Ltd managing director Richard Phillips said: "This is the most important initiative that Silverstone has taken in its 60-year history.

"Approval of this planning application will help maintain Silverstone's position as a leading global centre for sport, leisure, education and technology, and support its vision of becoming a world-leading motor sport destination."

Chairman of the British Racing Drivers Club, Stuart Rolt say: "The submission of this planning application is a big step forward in releasing the commercial potential of Silverstone and its 760-acre estate.

"The timing of this planning application is closely linked into the process we are currently undergoing to seek potential investment from third parties that will enable us to move forward with our plans more rapidly."

Rolt and Phillips both confirmed at last month's British Grand Prix that for the development to succeed, outside investment was needed as they could not support such an important financial undertaking.

It is estimated the development will make around 8,400 permanent jobs in the firms and activities pulled to the site, plus an average of around 550 construction jobs per annum throughout the development phase.
