Three defendants in the federal case against BetonSports, the defunct online sports betting operator, changed their pleas to guilty in a St. Louis, Mo., courtroom on Wednesday.
William H. Lenis, William L. Lenis, son of William Sr., and Manny G. Lenis, nephew of William Sr., previously owned two Florida-based companies that were alleged, in the 2006 indictment against the defendants, to have done marketing and promotional work for BetonSports.
Also charged in 2006 was Monica Lenis, daughter of William Sr., who ran the Florida companies
The Lenis companies were named in three counts in the original indictment, but the three men on Wednesday agreed to plead guilty to lesser charges and, in exchange, prosecutors agreed drop charges against Monica Lenis.
