London. Rafael Nadal won his first Wimbledon crown in the cathedral of tennis world, to break in an epic final to world number one, Roger Federer.
The left-handed Mallorca showed his profile more brazen before the first tournament favorite, until achieving a victory suffered three sets against two, with partial 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8) and 9-7.
The last three sets had to go to tiebreaker, before an audience that witnessed Extasi which undoubtedly will be considered one of the best matches in the entire history of white sport.
The confrontation consumed a total of four hours and 48 minutes, thus became the longest final in the history of the tournament. Overcame four hours and 16 minutes from the duel between Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe, who first won in 1982.
There were two suspensions by rain which helped to prolong the duration and sowed uncertainty, since only Wimbledon is played with natural light and the evening was already falling. If only 15 minutes late, the outcome would have been today.
Intense. It was a battle of titans, but in the end won the best player. Nadal not only dominated the battle tactic, but also was imposed in the mental, where it can do more damage to Federer.
At the fair play, calculated and the elegant Swiss lacks precision and effectiveness. Federer was wrong. And it did at key moments. And for every weakness of the Swiss, increased the grip of Spanish.
Nadal won in the first two sleeves and announced that he was able to repeat their success on grass in the clay.
