Illinois vs. Missouri - College Football Betting Preview

College Football Betting Preview

Illinois vs. Missouri
Saturday, 8:30 pm Eastern – ESPN

One of the best games of the opening college football weekend should be in St. Louis as Illinois plays Missouri on Saturday night. Last season the Tigers defeated Illinois 40-34 in the season opener. The Tigers were one win away from the BCS title game last season while the Illini played in the Rose Bowl.

Missouri is an 8.5 point favorite at SBG Global.

Missouri comes into the game ranked higher, simply for the fact that they return virtually everyone including quarterback Chase Daniel while Illinois lost Rashard Mendenhall to the NFL. This is a key game for both teams since neither has a difficult game for almost a month following this contest.

The Illini have not found a replacement for Mendenhall and it is expected that both Daniel Dufrene and Troy Pollard will get playing time in this game.

The key player in this game will be Illinois quarterback Juice Williams. He has the potential to keep Illinois in the game and pull off the upset. Last season he did not play well in the loss to Mizzou. Eddie McGee came into the game in relief last year to make it close. This year it is all about Williams and he must play well or the Illini have no chance. Both teams have exciting receivers. The Illini have Arrelious Benn while Missouri has Jeremy Maclin.

Here are the NCAA Football betting stats for Saturday’s game. Last season the Illini were 0-3 when allowing more than 26 points, while Missouri scored fewer than 31 points in just one game. The Fighting Illini are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games.

Nadal and Nalbandián unstoppable at the U.S. Open

The world number one, the Spanish Rafael Nadal and Argentine David Nalbandián removed easy tickets to this Thursday's third round U.S. Open, whose fourth date will be remembered by eliminating their favorite female, serbia Ana Ivanovic.

Nadal had to check in the third set over-enthusiasm of the American Ryler DeHeart, 261 ATP ranking, to pass over with markers 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

The Spanish road was quickly sealed their victory when the local did live up to its name and put the heart in the stadium to break the draw to Nadal in the second 'game' and take advantage of 2-0, before the racket to the public Local.

The Mallorcan stopped the momentum with a change in the pace of his game, which destabilized the boy from Hawaii, ATP ranking of 261.

The serbia Ivanovic, which was premiered at Flushing Meadows as the new queen of tennis worldwide, saw its escachada crown with a surprise defeat 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, before the little known French Julie Coin, 188 of the ladder WTA.

"Never in my life would have thought he could accomplish this. It's great," said one excited Coin, which in its 25 years signed its first win in a Grand Slam tournament.

In the third round Coin will be measured to her compatriot Amelie Mauresmo, winner of estonia by Kaia Kanepi 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.

The serbia, 20, and Roland Garros champion this season, lived another humiliating elimination in the third round of Wimbledon-2008, where he lost 6-1, 6-4 with china Zheng Jie, ranked 133 WTA.

The fourth day of the Open New Yorker was in black and white for Latinas rackets, because while Nalbandián (N.7) and his compatriot Juan del Potro (n.17) came out victorious and with their tickets to third round, the Colombian Mariana Duque Marino The Paraguayan Rossana de los Rios, and Argentine Jose Acasuso was dismissed from the tournament.

Nalbandian imposed its range to break in three sets to Kazakh Andrey Golubev 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 in one hour and 58 minutes of play.

Semi Finalist 2003 in Flushing Meadows, the 'King David' will face the French Gael Monfils (n.32), winner of Russian Evgeny Korolev.

Del Potro extended to 21 its string of consecutive wins to overcome 4-6, 6-1, 7-5, 6-3 to Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci.

"I went a bit cold to the game. After I found the rhythm and I could make my game," said Del Potro, who equaled his performance last year in the Open New Yorker, when reached the third round.

The Argentine arrived in this tournament preceded by four consecutive titles won in as many weeks.

"At this point, after so many matches followed, it plays more with his head than with physical" admitted Del Potro.

Duque Marino, 19, received prominent note in the first Grand Slam of his short career despite losing to the Polish Agnieszka Radwanska (N.9), 6-0, 7-6 (7 / 3).

The Colombian gave great battle, despite playing with their feet full of blisters, injured in his previous match.

"The blisters hurt a lot, but I tried to forget them and concentrate on the game. I was playing before a 'top ten', and then I overwhelming in the first set I told myself," Wow, I'm going to have fun, 'and so I did, "said Duque Marino.

De los Rios fell to the greatest power of the local favorite, Venus Williams (N.7), with passages from 6-0 and 6-3.

"It's not easy to face Venus Williams. She has a draw and a very powerful game, well above the level of players that I am accustomed to top, but the experience was interesting," said the 31-year-old South American.

For its part Acasuso, was unable to decipher the game from French Gilles Simon (N.16) and was defeated 6-4, 6-1, 6-4.

Denver Broncos at Arizona Cardinals - NFL Preseason Betting Odds

NFL Preseason Betting Preview

Denver Broncos at Arizona Cardinals
Friday, 10:00 pm Eastern

Normally the final game of the preseason is virtually meaningless but that may not be the case in Arizona on Friday night as the Cardinals host the Denver Broncos. It was thought that Kurt Warner had won the starting quarterback job for Arizona but head coach Ken Whisenhunt was unhappy news was released by the media and supposedly Matt Leinart is still in the running. It may not matter though if Leinart plays as bad as he did a week ago when he was 4-12 for just 24 yards against the Raiders, throwing three interceptions.

Arizona is a 3 point favorite with a total of 37 at SBG Global.

Kurt Warner will start the game against Denver but Whisenhunt is still waiting to name the regular season starter. “We all want to know,” Warner said, “For Matt and myself, it’d be nice knowing what the situation would be and be able to move forward with it. The way I look at it more than anything, the sooner it can happen, the sooner we can get past the (interviews and media coverage) that goes with it, and you can prepare for the game.” Warner has not taken nearly as many snaps as Leinart in the preseason but has played far better. “Hopefully we’ll get in enough snaps with the first (offensive) line that both can play,” Whisenhunt said. “I just wanted to make sure Kurt gets his timing with the ones for this game, much like we did in Kansas City.” Most of the starters for both teams are not expected to play a great deal on Friday so how much can be determined with backups playing alongside Warner and Leinart is up for debate.

Denver has looked good this preseason, waiting for the NFL Week 1, especially quarterback Jay Cutler.

He is 30 for 43 for 352 yards, with three touchdowns, and no interceptions this preseason. He probably won’t play long on Friday which means backups Patrick Ramsey and Darrell Hackney will see the bulk of the action. Starting wide receiver Brandon Marshall may see some action though since he will miss the first part of the regular season due to suspension.

NFL betting stats show that Denver has a 12-5 edge in the all-time preseason series with Arizona, including a 21-3 home win last year in the preseason. The Broncos have been great in preseason finales in recent seasons, winning eight of their last nine. Denver is 3-1 in its last four preseason games against the Cardinals including three straight.

Liverpool suffers round to move into Champions Arsenal and Atlético forward

Liverpool grazed tragedy but finally managed to qualify on Wednesday for the group stage of Champions League football, for which he also sealed his ticket teams like Arsenal or Atlético Madrid, after the latter left out to Schalke 04.

Alongside them will be in the drum of Monaco on Thursday theoretical other favorites in their respective playoffs, as Fiorentina, Marseilles or Fenerbahçe.

Anfield was undoubtedly the center of the tension of the day because the 'Reds', who had not dropped from a tie without goals in the first leg in Liege, nor succeeded in beating the Belgian goal, to the point of having to go to time extension.

Men who directs Rafael Benitez followed the script that is making its way into this boot season and signed a bad game, suffered a lot, but ended up winning right at the end, because Dirk Kuyt achieved victory in the 118, where it was expected and the wave of criminal.

In the first two games ligueros in England, Liverpool has joined two triumphs in the end, in Sunderland thanks to Fernando Torres and before the Middlesbrough on Saturday, with both Steven Gerrard in 90 2.

The Argentine Sergio 'Kun' Agüero, a newcomer to win gold at the Games in Beijing, was the great figure of the encounter, which was attended by the father of her partner, the legendary Diego Maradona, who held the top throughout the many 'atleti'.

The 'Kun' opened the scoring in minute 19 after a heart of the Colombian Luis Perea. The small albiceleste scorer, barely 20 years, was present in many others, to serving the ball Uruguayan Diego Forlán (51, 2-0) and then Luis Garcia after a first attempt (82, 3-0).

At the end of the match, Portugal's Simao Sabrosa provoked a penalty, which was transformed by the Argentinian Maxi Rodriguez (87, 4-0). At the root of the move was again Agüero Simao, who gave an excellent pass.

More predictable was the classification of Arsenal, which had already dominated by 2 to 0 in the first leg in Holland and that in the Emirates Golea 4-0 at Twente, fulfilling the prediction.

In Prague, Fiorentina tied with no goals scored (0-0) with Slavia and Marseille won its move to overcome 2-1 to Brann Bergen Norwegian, in the French city of Vélodrome. In Istanbul, Fenerbahçe headed Luis Aragones will also be in the 'great' after removing the Champions Partizán Belgrade.

Big European clubs, contrary to win Olympic football weight

After the legal problems between European teams and FIFA by the call for players for the recent Games in Beijing, the association of European Clubs (ACE) wants the international federation to reverse its intention to include an Olympic event in the calendar FIFA.

"There will be a meeting with the president of Fifa, Joseph Blatter," announced the president of ACE, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, in statements today that reproduces the German newspaper "Sport Bild."

The ECA was founded in January and happens to the G-14 as the association that brings together the most powerful clubs in Europe.

"We can not continue lengthening the timetable. We must end this greed. It is not possible that clubs pay their players and they will be each time with their national teams," said the German, chairman of the board of Bayern Munich.

The ECA will oppose to Blatter announced that it did in Beijing include the Olympic Games in the international calendar of FIFA, so that teams can not do anything to prevent the departure of its players younger than 23 years.

In addition, ACE wants to reduce the age limit for Olympic soccer, which has the support of the UEFA president, Michel Platini.

"The idea is that Platini in the future only involved players under 19 years. Maybe they can reach a point that satisfies both sides. I think the participation of teams under age 21 as a good possibility," he said German.

"The clubs then should undertake to give permission for their players, without the Olympic Games are included in the calendar of international soccer," Rummenigge elaborated the position of the body it represents.

Since this is a European problem, Platini called to ask him to participate in the meeting with Blatter, for which there is still no date. "But the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not be present," added Rummenigge.

Upon reaching the Olympic Games in Beijing there was a sharp dispute between football clubs, national associations of various countries and FIFA on mandatory that players participate in the Games.

The conflicts were the most severe of Argentine Lionel Messi, of Barcelona, and the Brazilians Diego (Werder Bremen), Rafinha (Schalke). The two "canarinhos" escaped without permission from their clubs to play with the selection of his country.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne ruled in favour of clubs, and determined that they were not obliged to give permission for their players. Nevertheless, Messi and the two Brazilians played with his selection in Beijing.

After the defeat before the CAS, Blatter announced that starting next year the Olympics will be included in the international football calendar, which clubs would be obliged to allow their players play.

In addition, London 2012 will only teams under 23 years, ie without the three exceptions allowed for each selection that are in force today.

As far as they agree it ACE and FIFA is not open the Olympic tournament for all players, regardless of age, as requested by the IOC president, Jacques Rogge. Thus could participate in the Games all major soccer stars.

"Already now I can say 100 percent that there will be no agreement," said Rummenigge. Blatter already ruled in Beijing as a measure for not making the World Cup competition, held every four years.

Federer is progressing smoothly at the U.S. Open

The Swiss Roger Federer, seeking his fifth consecutive title of the U.S. Open, eliminated Argentina on Tuesday to a maximum Gonzalez to overcome a 6-3, 6-0, 6-3 in the first round.

Gonzalez tried to offer resistance to the former world number until Federer (2) won 10 games in a row in the three-sided.

Federer plays with the unusual second prequalification. After 237 weeks in a row at the top of the ladder, the Swiss is now below the Spanish Rafael Nadal for the first time in four and a half years. Since the 2004 Australia Open had no further than the first prequalification in a major tournament.

I am motivated to play well here and in the rest of the season, Federer said.

The Chilean Fernando Gonzalez (11) imposed its status preclasificado on the Spanish Ivan Navarro, although I struggle until they finally won by 7-6 (3), 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (5) also in the first round.

The Brazilian Thiago Alves had to sweat shirt to defeat by Chilean Paul Capdeville 4-6, 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (2), 6-4. Meanwhile, the Ecuadorian Nicolas Lapentti had some flashes against Yen-Hsun Lu of Taiwan but were insufficient and was left out by 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.

The Spanish Fernando Verdasco (13) won 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 to Russian Igor Kunitsyn, while his compatriot Tommy Robredo (15) won 7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-1 to German Mischa Zverev.

The Czech Tomas Berdych (22) was eliminated by American Sam Querrey 6-3, 6-1, 6-2.

Nadal, brand new number one, practiced on Tuesday, one day after winning debut. Check the U.S Open Standings at BSNblog.

The serbia Ana Ivanovic regained their confidence in time to beat with shock to Russian Vera Dushevina 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 on Tuesday in the first round of U.S. Open.

In handicap 3-2 in the third set, the French Open champion suddenly regained confidence and began to earn points.

He had loosened the merger, he said.

Ivanovic, 20, had played only two matches since Wimbledon in mid-July while healing thumb. The injury forced her to withdraw from the Olympic Games before the start of the competition and drastically reduce their practices.

I felt very well today, he said anyway. I was happy to be on the court.

For its part the Colombian Mariana Duque Marino debuted with a victory over the Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn in 0-6, 6-3, 6-2.

He seemed a meeting divided into two. The first set went to the Thai who thought he was going to carry forward the South American. But from the second set Duque Marino turned the encounter to go to impose their game with increasing ease.

The Paraguayan Rossana de los Rios also advanced to the second round with a victory of 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 over the Czech Hana Sromova.

The Williams sisters also went to the next stage. Serena (4) surpassed easily by the Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko 6-1, 6-4. Venus (7) eliminated by the Australian Samantha Stosur 6-2, 6-3.

On Tuesday Dinara Safina also advanced, sixth preclasificada; Agnes Szavay (13) and Flavia Pennetta (16).

United and Chelsea get 1-0 Wins

The top of the Soccer Betting Premier League is expected to be a battle between Manchester United and Chelsea once again this season.

The Blues are doing their part, starting the season with two wins while United has a win and a tie. United was able to get a 1-0 win against Portsmouth even without a number of their key players including Cristiano Ronaldo. Also missing were Ryan Giggs, Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp believes it is a two-team race in the Premier League once again. “They are still so strong that I can see them and Chelsea being the two slugging it out again for the title.
