NBA Betting: Spurs Head To Oklahoma City For Massive West Showdown

Sports Betting blogNCAA March Madness picks is about to take over the airwaves, but on Friday, you’ll also find a tasty matchup in the NBA as San Antonio travels to Oklahoma City in a matchup of, arguably, the two best teams in the Western Conference. The Spurs are experienced, but the Thunder are young and hungry; who comes out on top?

Spurs Thunder Odds – Friday, 9:30 PM ET

The Spurs wrap up a seven-game homestand on Wednesday against Orlando, but a sportsbook review of their 112-97 win over Washington on Monday would show that San Antonio was never really troubled by the Wizards, outscoring them 64-30 in the paint and shooting 54% from the field. Tony Parker led the way with 31 points and seven assists, although he did have six turnovers, while DeJuan Blair added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Spurs, who shot 10-of-19 from the foul line and that is a clip that even 2012 March Madness betting players would frown on. The Spurs managed to romp through their Rodeo road trip, but they’ve been up and down at home; weekend trips to Oklahoma City and Dallas should wake them up a bit.

The Thunder will be in action on Thursday night in Denver, but Tuesday they were edged 104-103 at home by Houston despite a 28-point, 12-rebound effort from Kevin Durant. Russell Westbrook chipped in with 19 points for the Thunder, who lost it late as the Rockets rallied back, but this shouldn’t put off players that work with pay head systems; every team has games that they throw away for one reason or another and this was one for the Thunder, who outrebounded the Rockets by 10. Oklahoma City is still the favorite to come out of the West, but they’ll need a strong outing against the Spurs.

Oklahoma City should be the NBA betting favorites at home in this clash, even though the Spurs are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five meetings with the Thunder, with four of the five games going over the posted total. However, the Thunder beat the Spurs 108-96 at home back in January and they’re 18-3 on their own floor, while the Spurs are 11-9 on the road. The Thunder will be ready on Friday night to extend their lead atop the Spurs, but you can never count out San Antonio, from their coaching to their players. They’ve seen it all over the past decade and will go down as a dynasty, and it’ll take the Thunder’s best effort to keep them down. In the midst of a wild Friday of March Madness action, don’t forget to take Oklahoma City in your online betting picks.
