Yanks in the Holyland

Here is an update of Americans playing in the Holyland courtesy MHaifa1913 from Bigsoccer.

Liga Al (Super League) - 1st Tier

Hapoel Kiryat Shmona 3-1 Hapoel Petah Tikva

Gerzicich, right in white, steps up to defend the French captain of Hapoel Petah Tikva, Jonathan Assous

As posted in the other thread, Bryan Gerzicich went the full ninety minutes for Kiryat Shmona. He was not involved in the goals according to the websites I have read. The visitors went up in the 23rd minute when Dudu Biton punished Kiryat Shmona 'keeper Danny Amos for making an error in the back. Salah Hasarma equalized for the home side before Israel under-21 international Elroy Cohen scored a brace.

Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0 Bnei Sakhnin

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans thank Canadian owner, Mitch Goldhar, for opening his pockets and buying new players

Ronny Gafney was an unused substitute for Maccabi as they trampled Bnei Sakhnin at home. Taking Gafney's spot at left back was ex-Steaua Bucureşti and Maccabi Haifa winger, Klemi Saban. Haris Medunjanin put away a penalty after Eliran Atar was brought down in the penalty area by Maharan Abu Ria. Roberto Colautti doubled the lead shortly after. Late in the second half, strikes from Yuval Avidor and Eliran Atar sent messages to the rest of the league that Maccabi Tel Aviv will be a tough opponent. A connection to another Yank Abroad in this match was that Maccabi had two former teammates of Michael Bradley in the match, striker Roberto Colautti and midfielder Gal Alberman.

Maccabi Netanya 2-0 F.C. Ashdod

Krupnik (far left) joins his teammates after Netanya put the match out of reach.

Things started out poorly for John Gregory's side as his Bosnian 'keeper, Dragan Stojkić, was sent off in the 13th minute for handling the ball outside of the area. Leo Krupnik went 90 minutes for his side together with his new partner in central defense, Argentine Mariano Caporale. Goals by Omer Peretz and Orel Degani gave Netanya the full three points.

Hapoel Beersheba versus Maccabi Haifa
Monday at 13:00, US Eastern Standard Time

Ryan Adeleye and Tom Almadon are both expected to be on the bench for the clubs in this match. Alexander Zahavi has been out with an injury and missed the training match in midweek with Hapoel Acre. The club reported to the media this week that Zahavi received an invitation to join the US under-20 men's national team, though it was unclear what for as the team is currently in Peru without him.

Liga Leumit (National League) - 2nd Tier

Hapoel Bat Yam 0-0 Maccabi Herzliya

No mention of whether or not Assaph Crispis played in the match as the IFA website has not been updated for this match.

Beitar/Shimshon Tel Aviv versus Maccabi Ah"i Nazareth
Monday at 11:00, US Eastern Standard Time

A crucial match for Nazareth in Tel Aviv. No word on whether or not Michael Greenberg will make his league debut for Beitar.

The IFA website has finally been updated for the lower leagues, which begin play on October 1. Will be keeping an eye out for any Americans or Anglo names.
