Johnson got past Denny Hamlin for the win in the Goody's Fast Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville last time out, with Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, and Clint Bowyer making up the rest of the day's top five drivers.
Ryan Newman, Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., A.J. Allmendinger, and Jamie McMurray rounded out the Top 10 at Martinsville. Kurt Busch was 18th, Matt Kenseth was 23rd, and Kyle Busch ended up back in 24th place.
Johnson moved up to fourth place in the driver standings with his win on the weekend, but he still trails leader Gordon by 142 points on that list. Bowyer is now in second place, 89 points behind Gordon. Kurt Busch is third, with Hamlin sitting in fifth place.
Carl Edwards won both races at Texas Motor Speedway last year, taking the checkered flag in the Samsung 500 in April and the Dickies 500 in November. Johnson and Jeff Burton split the Texas events in the 2007 season, with Stewart and Kasey Kahne visiting victory lane there back in 2006.
After racing at Texas Motor Speedway the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series will move on to Phoenix International Raceway for the Subway Fresh Fit 500 on April 18. The month's slate then ends with the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway on April 26.
