Ronaldo Ready To Retire
The decorated, illustrious career of Brazilian soccer legend Ronaldo is set to come to an end. Sports betting fans read the news wires late on Sunday that indicated that the 34-year-old is set to retire.
The World Cup winner is considered to be one of the greatest strikers of all-time but at this point, he just feels that his body can’t take the day-to-day punishment any longer.
It’s been a memorable ride for Ronaldo, who has played for a who’s who of European football teams. From Barcelona, to Inter Milan, to Real Madrid and AC Milan. He’s been named the FIFA Player of the Year three times in his career and currently holds the record for most World Cup goals scored (15).
On Monday, Ronaldo is set to make a formal announcement during a press conference. There was a lot of criticism thrown Ronaldo’s way during the latter years of his career regarding a lack of fitness. It was at a particular high earlier this month when his Corinthians squad was shockingly escorted out of the Copa Libertadores very early. A lot of fans blamed Ronaldo for that loss.
Falls eased up a bit when they heard news that Ronaldo cried – literally – after the loss and felt particularly bad about his own performance.
He’s still had quite the career and when people reflect back on it as they will this Monday, they have to be fairly impressed. Ronaldo may be best known for his World Cup moments – particularly in 2002.
After Brazil lost in the World Cup finals in 1998, he scored both of the team’s goals in the 2002 World Cup Finals to lead them to the win.
