US international striker Charlie Davies was caught speeding at more than 110 miles per hour last Saturday night, according to police in the Jura district of eastern France. Local newspaper Le Progres also reported Friday that Davies – who plays with Sochaux in Ligue 1 in France – had his driving license revoked for the incident.
Davies, 24, was involved in a fatal car accident near Washington, D.C., that claimed the life of a female passenger nearly a year ago. He sustained serious injuries including a lacerated bladder, fractured right tibia and femur, a fractured elbow, facial injuries and bleeding on the brain.
The results of the accident cost him a US roster spot for last summer’s World Cup in South Africa, and he still has not seen any professional action with Sochaux since the accident. He has played eight games for Sochaux since joining the club in the summer of 2009, scoring two goals for the team.
